Jacaranda Special School Nairobi

While in Kenya we made a visit to the Jacaranda Special School in Nairobi.  I gave them a present of a hand made Bodhran, which was kindly donated by Michael Vignoles from Galway, and they had great fun with it

We took part in a sports day and played volley ball races.  It was very tiring for my small legs.

The girls in the school make some lovely jewelry during their workshops

And you never know where you might meet an Antrim supporter:

The school would love to hear from you, so please drop them a note or card at the address below:

Look at the beautiful sea, it's so green

Today we arrived in Mombasa, a city on the Indian ocean, here is the view from our hotel:

I went exploring a dark cave, thankfully there were no monsters inside:

What animal is this ?

I'm really looking forward to St. Oliver's drama production when I get back.

What do you think this animal is hiding his head behind the bush ?

Maybe you can draw a picture of this "naughty boy", he was a little bold and always causing trouble

Looking forward to seeing your drawings... keep them coming

Lake Nakuru

This weekend we went to visit Lake Nakuru.

I asked to drive the jeep :

But our guide said I was too small, so I had to sit in the back:

Lake Nakuru is famous for its flamingos, however there were only a few of them around when we visited:

Then we played a game of hide and seek, I don't think they were very good at it:

After this we went up to a high place for a little picnic, it had a wonderful view of the lake:

It really was a nice place:

Can you draw me a picture of a flamingo ?

Even more lovely pictures

Another lovely picture arrived by email from St. Oliver's today, a monkey,a tiger and a lion

Here is a friend I made last weekend.  His name is Justice, he knows everything about all the animals, plants and flowers in Africa.  He's cool, he drives a big jeep every day.

Here is some more information on Mount Kilimanjaro:

All the animals in the park depend on it for survival, so we must take care of it.

What a big mountain

Last weekend I went on a special trip to the border of Tanzania.  We stayed at the foot of the tallest mountain in Africa.

Do you know it's name ?

Here is a picture of me sitting on the back of our jeep with the mountain in the distance.

Here is an elfie I took, look at what is in the background

Safari

This weekend I'm going on Safari with the IBM CSC team, it's a really early start but I'm hoping to see some more animals like this one:

Do you know what it's called?  Maybe you can give it a name ?  Something beginning with G

Who has seen the gorilla ?

To answer your comment below, I haven't seen any gorillas yet. The nearest thing to a gorilla I've seen is that fella Dominic who keeps following me around.

I saw this little fella, do you think you can find a name for him ?  He looks similar to Dominic too

Did you know about the differences between apes, monkeys and humans ?   Have a look  here:

I said Boo too....

What a coincidence, I'm reading Say Boo to the Animals too.  Look who I said Boo to :

I wasn't afraid and he even gave me a little ride on his back.  He's my friend now, he's called Simba

Landed in Nairobi on Friday morning, traffic was very busy coming from the airport.  Still having trouble with my little paws on the keyboard, typing is very slow

On Saturday we are going to see some wild animals, looking forward to it

Thursday 1 May 2014

Second post in one day, this blogging craic is quite exhausting.  Sitting in Schiphol airport waiting to board "Mount Kenya"...

Could not find any clogs to fit my furry feet.  Becoming fluent in Dutch now, soon will have to switch to Swahili.

 Dag, Kwaheri.  Bye for now.
Oliver is looking a little nervous as he embarks on his first flight  ...

He's been travelling all morning on the way to Nairobi, Kenya.  First stop is Amsterdam.
